See if the shelter named her, or if she came with a name. If she comes with a name, you'll want to keep that and gradually train her to another, perhaps similar sounding name. If she's got a name she's somewhat used to, you should keep that for a while because it will be the only thing she knows while she gets used to her new surroundings. It will help her feel more comfortable, I think.
If you'e picking a totally new name, you'll want a name that has distinctive sounds to it.
That means no soft-sounding names, but names with consonants, and probably two syllables.
I liked Stella. Middle name? How about Stella Mae. How about Betty Boop? She looks like an adorable Betty Boop.
When training her over to something new from the name she knows, you'll want to use both the old name and the new one for a while until she gets used to both, then you can swith over to the new one.
Sophie or Sammi sound good to me. Congrats on your new family memeber. I adopted my dog, Honey, 6 years ago today. I'd rather be home with her than at work.
I don't know why, but I planned on naming our next dog "Abby" if we got a girl. Instead, I went a got a wild boy "Levi".:
Your post reminds me of something important.
Warning to anyone who doesn't yet have children: Don't name a dog a favorite name you would name a child. My sister named her dog "Abby" because she loved the name. When she had a daugther, she couldn't use the name. It would have been like naming her child after a dog. Save your absolute favorite names for your children.

No, she was picked up off the side of the road and is very skinny, has been alone for quite sometime. The shelter has not named her either.
I love the Betty Boop too! But as my mothers name is Betty I think mom might be offended LOL!!!
Boy how cool is it you all see this dog and think of names that are already in our family? I guess it shows that she is meant to be a part of our family, she already looks like one of us. Hahahahahhaahha
I wil give my vote for Stella and go for Rose for a middle name " Stella Rose".
