My previous dog had a bad reaction to biospot too - I'm always afraid to use anything from a store now. I did have this dog on Advantix until we moved to the NC coast, and it did nothing at all for fleas -ugh. Now I have her on Trifexis, which works great (though I don't know how she got the bartonella henslae) (just found a dead flea on her back in fact). I need to do something for ticks, though.

I don't need it right now, but I will give it a try. Anybody beat me to it?

In general, you get what you pay for. I wouldn't hold out much hope for this stuff.

Well looked up the CAS number but its all in chemical speak with chemical diagrams, so can;t tell if its water or a block of wood. if anyone is a chemist and can use the CAS system, that would be a good way to know if they are similar in makeup just different names or if they are opposite things. Sorry, way over my head

Thanks anyway. I appreciate the effort.

Maybe people will start posting reviews on it once it's been on the market a bit longer.

I was just at Costco today and saw the display with Frontline and Kirkland's next to each other. When I compared the ingredients, which I really know nothing about, there was no Etofenprox in Frontline and the amount of Methoprene was significantly higher in Frontline. Our vet is now using Vethical, which is supposed to be less expensive. It is applied from the neck to tail. I probably will try it in May.

You might try the MSDS sheets for both for a side by side comparision. Might work...... Personally we still use Front Line. Its expensive - yes but luckily the bugs here aren't immuned to it

Default kirkland flea and tick

I don't recommend this product. I have tried on my two golden retrievers and both had ticks (full) that were still alive on them. Talked to the vet he said to give them a bath get that stuff off of them and wait a few days and apply front line. He also told me some of the ingredience could be toxic.

Pawleys, thats true of ANY flea/tick product...
ive seen severe chemaical burns from frontline plus, ive seen upset tummies, vomiting/diahrreah and even seizures from comfortis and triflexis...
we have to remmeber that ALL flea and tick control products are toxins, thats how they work, thy are TOXIC to the fleas and/or ticks (im not familiar with the kirkland flea control but some products only work against fleas so mabe thats the problem) ALL topical and pill form flea control is TOXIC in some degree, the key is if your pet does well on it or not.

personally right now i use advantage..why? because frontline plus was doing nothing for fleas (and the generic friponil products were less effective than that) i wont touch heartz or biospot products with a 10 ft pole, my female cresti got sick on comfortis and my male crsti got sick on trifexis...
that leaves k9 advantix and Advantage.
i PREFER advantix, BUT i have cats that do occaisnally groom and rub agains the dogs ect so i whent with advantage since advantix is tixic to cats. the down side is advantage provides no protection against ticks.

its all about figuring out 1: what works in your area and 2: what works for your pets.

in terms of get what you pay for, id say its a 50/50 shot on stuff like that, lirklands own brand dog food is actually a realy good qaulity food (if we ignore the south carlinia plant issues) yet it costs a fraction of other equivalent foods and is usually cheaper still than some junk foods...
I dont have a costco locally anymore so i dont think well ever be trying the kirkland flea products though.

Flea Medication: Pyrethrins, Pyrethroids, Fipronil, & Other Flea Medications

Costco's one is similar to Bio Spot. I have never used Biospot. Even with the same main ingredient, the efficacy can vary with the formulation too.

Default Kirkland Flea and Tick

Do not use this product. It is a waste of the $19.99! I thought I would save money but actually I had to make a visit to the vet and buy Frontline! My vet said that the medicine in it is basically very watered down. It is safer he said, but not as strong as the pricier brands. I guess you get what you pay for with this product!
