Our great dane has chewed up every toy we have bought her, sometimes even within a day, sometimes it takes a few days or a week. Even toys that say they are for large breeds get torn up. The ONLY toy she has not destroyed is the "erratic ball". I need some suggestions on good toys that will stand the test of time.

My Lab loves her Kong, Nylabones, Everlasting Treat Ball, Flashing Ball, Tough Tennis Balls, her real bones, and her "babies" (her "babies" are her two favorite stuffed animals; she just carries them around and licks them, she never, ever chews them up).

Kongs are good for aggressive chewers.

dozer has a black kong and has managed to make it look a little less than pristine, i dont think itll last much beyond another 6 months, but 1 yr on a toy is a GOOD life.
he LOVES his jolly ball (they were designed origioanlly for horses) and his big Bad Cuz (though one of the cuz' legs isnt going to last too much longer if he keeps it up lol.)
the skinneze soft toys seem to be standing up quite well to his rough play, but ive had to play stuffy doctor to most of the akc stuffies by now (but again 6 months of puppy play isnt bad for a stuffy)
the planet dog toys are quite tough too.

i tend to "go cheap" and buy fleece on sale by the yard, cut it into strips and braid or tie it into various shapped "rope" toys.

raquet ball (squash ball for the brits) tend to be REALY long lasting (tennis bals dont last but the raquette ball is holding strong and still looks new!)

Indestructible Dog Toy - Big Dog Toys - Tough Dog Toys - Dog Ball - Pit Bull Toys - Unbreakoball heard good things about these...been wanting to get one for my Dane.
She likes to shred stuffed animals in 15 seconds lol

My Bullmastiff/Bulldog likes the cheap ropes and Kong toys filled with frozen PB. He tries to chew concrete, metal fencing, etc...he literally tries his teeth on everything.

Ginger chewed this Rhino® Value Pack | Product Finder | My Pet Is | Large Dog | Nylabone® into chunks the day we got it. Stuffed animals, even extra tough ones, last about ten minutes. She likes the rope chews but takes about 20 minutes to turn one into a ball of fuzz.

Dense and stiff rope chews seem to last longer. Her current favorite is a clear hollow tube made of something tough and squishy, which we throw in the house like a stick and she chases down. I buy most of her toys at Ross because they only want a couple of dollars, so I don't feel as bad when she shreds it within a few minutes or days.

I tracked down Ginger's current favorite, it says it's Dogsavers Stick. She's been chewing on it for a few weeks already and there aren't even any toothmarks on it.

Get one of those large, heavy balls with a handle?

Maybe one of those herding eggs? My Catahoula doesn't play with his much, but when he does, he's vicious with it, lol! There are other heavy-weight balls that are designed for zoo animals that might work well. Some of them have handles.

Heavy duty rope toys are great for heavy duty play time too.

Have you tried the black Kongs? My dogs have regularly torn up their red Kongs, but the heavy-duty black Kong doesn't have a scratch on it.
