Elwood eats Canidae, which has no corn, wheat or soy.
He's been having a tough time, scratching etc. Finally developed a hot spot.
I now have an ointment for him and I have to keep up the chlortrimeton until we get a real break from the heat. This week it does seem a bit cooler, but it's not exactly sweatshirt weather.
I also got an oatmeal shampoo for him.
We never had this flea/allergy situation last summer, but he swam more and was bathed regularly back then.
The vet says bathing him more often might help his coat, also we will be drizzling a bit of olive oil onto his food.

I have also used a few tablespoons of olive oil drizzled in my dog's food to help their coat. Also bacon fat and cooked beef fat. It is probably terrible for their cholesterol, but it definitely gives them a shinier, smoother coat.

My little one is scratching and biting her feet and it's freezing here in NJ so the heat isnt the problem here. I changed her shampoo to oatmeal, changed her food to allergy dry food with no corn or anything else in it and she still does it. Benedryl did nothing at all. Cortisone helped alot but made her eat too much and drink too much and pee too much, plus she's only 14 mos and I didnt want to be putting her on stuff like that. I bought spray for the itching that seems to work sometimes but it smells like you stuck your head in a pine tree. Awful. Any sugestions? The vet called it allergies but we can't figure out to what.

It sounds like allergies. But I am surprised your vet didn't mention an allergy test to find out to what. I don't know if the blood test or the skin test would be most helpful, but one or the other would probably be very helpful. My JRT has an allergy of all things to grass. Which is really su*** for him, as he likes to hang out in the grass! When it acts up because he manages to get out there too long he sucks and chews his paws incessantly.

Flea allergies: otc benedryl 25 mg per 25 lbs is what the vets told me also instead of all the medicated dog shampoos recomended go with Head and shoulders scalp therpy sampoo. I also give them cod liver oil tablets or meat drippings.
