I have a 16-year old (est.) beagle mix we adopted 6 years ago. His only medical condition has been hypothyroidism (for which he takes prescription medication) and mild arthritis. Vets have never prescribed medication for his arthritis so I've given him glucosamine supplement.
The last week, he is having trouble supporting this body with his hind legs when getting up (they give out). Once I help him up, he seems okay. Is this a sign that his arthritis is worse or can it be something else? Anything I can try to help him?
I will see a vet soon, but we just relocated to another city so I don't have anyone who knows his medical history well here to ask. He has been such a wonderul dog and even though I knew he was very senior when we adopted him, it breaks my heart to think he may be close to the end.
Sorry hope nothing bad but when my Golden did that got her up she did good for 3 days thinking wanted to see my boys 1 last time and then she tried standing peed all over herself and slipped and I had to put her down. Does dog have a fever or anything? Best to ask a vet have them get records faxxed from last vet and decide ffrom there.Just whatever happens remember he had a good 6 years of love.
