This is my first full winter up north and I'm wondering if its wise to actully buy a sweater/coat for my dog. He's only lived in South Florida and has never even been exposed to frost let alone snow. I'm growing out his natural coat and only giving small trims but does that extra layer actually make a difference or is their regular fur good enough? I found this coat and I'm wondering if its a good idea to invest in one .

I have a hound so short haired one came from Georgia, other from Missourri and they do fine and actually love the snow. We had Katrina dogs here in winter did not bother them and I am from Wisconsin and the northern part so a bit cool in winter at times. They get used to it.
