we had a beautiful Dobe years ago, named Beau. We also have a Cooper. I do like "Copper", but with Cooper in the house we'd get confused for sure. (some days, it doesn't take much to confuse me LOL). Jake is the dog next door, so that's out. I'll add the others to the list.

Keep 'em coming. All good suggestions, going on the list. Captain Jack is a real possibility. Wisteria, those are really unique - thank you. rcn - I need to look up the meanings of those names - also like some of the ones maggiekate offerd. I like koko. All quite nice. I can see I'll have a lot of thinking to do.

Some of the names I have been thinking of are Bailey, Bravo, Bixby, Alex, Diver ("will dive for food" ) Sailor and Captain (yes, they were on my list too) , Starboard, (the rest escape me as the list isn't handy at the moment).

Fill me in please - who is Captain Jack? Is it a movie character? I haven't had the time to go to a movie for a long time, so I'm not up on that scene.

Anyway, I appreciate the inputs. Don't stop.

I don't know why, but when I looked at him "Captain Jack" just came out of my mouth. He's got that proud look of a Captain !

Beautiful Pup !!

Well actually if I am not mistaken the song sung by .......I think it is Peter Gabriel that starts out with "Captain Jack will get you high tonight" and I was told that was a nick name for cokaine...or maybe it was acid, sorry, not a child of the 60's here LOL! but that is just what I was told the song meant, not sure if it is true.
