Allow at least 2 hours after the dog's meal, before letting it run around, especially a German Shepherd, and especially if the dog is on a dry dog food.
Sooner than two hours, and they could develop bloat, which if not treated quickly, by trained professionals, could mean the death of your dog within an hour.
If you do not know what bloat is, google it, and read up on it.

I got this link for those who want to know more about bloat in dogs.
Bloat in Dogs
I would like to add one more thing.
When reading this information, in the heading "prevention" half way down the page, it mentions dry dog food.
It should interest you to know that dry food can be a real precursor to bloat.
A simple test, you who feed dry food, that you can do at home.
Take five or six pieces, and place them in a bowl, or pot with warm water.
Wait a few minutes and note was has happened to those pieces of dry food.
Nine out of ten will expand in the warm water.
This is exactly what happens when they are in your dogs stomach.
Doesn't matter what brand of dry you are feeding, most all dry food will swell to twice it's size once it is in the dog's stomach.
The more reason for absolutely NO EXCERSIZE right after a meal, especially if feeding dry food.
