I'm sorry for your loss, Ringo. Casper was a lucky guy to have you in his life, though.

This is a good thread and I am glad it was started. Alot of people have this dilemma with pets and not knowing what to do. Very helpful and comforting to be able to vent.

I was only thinking of the OP, thinking that if he still came onto this board, it would be a constant reminder of his dog, rather than a generic thread about the topic. But, anyway, I don't think he frequents this board.

I can see how it would be helpful and comforting. I, too, am glad to be a member of this community, no matter what the issue. I dread having this issue, but it's part of the circle of life. Sigh...

It is true I do not really frequent this board but do occasionally read it. I continue to get subscription messages each time someone posts on this thread. I am amazed that it has gone on for so long.

I started this thread over two years ago when our beloved 14 year old Golden was beginning to go downhill. It was definitely helpful to me and I can not thank all of those who posted replies enough. It did help me and my family a lot.

On the bright side, we now have two (yes two) very bright and active young Goldendoodles who bring a lot to our lives. They are full of love and energy and I love how they greet me each day when I get home from work. Though our original Golden was well loved and is missed, we have moved on. Thank you all again. Jay
