Happy 4th to you too!!!!

I read on another forum that more pets are lost this holiday than any other time.

I have no link...or, proof...but, I believe it.

I think that is true Years ago I had a friend that that left her dog axcess to the back yard while they went to see fireworks came home the dog was gone . They posted photos and called shelters and vets, even checked the report of dead dogs picked up off the road at the shelter and no dog ( this was a dog that never so much as left the yard if she got out) well a few days later some man saw the posters and called her and told her he was sorry but he thinks he may have hit her dog on the freeway on the night of the 4th, he told her where so she got into the car and drove and pulled over on the freeway in the spot he told her and there was her dogs collar. The freeway was a good 3-4 miles from her house so it shows you how far a panicked dog will run. ( she had been hit too many times for the shelter reports to give a good description of her) so yes please keep you dogs where they will be safe.

Yes - unfortunately you are correct. The dogs get so crazed by the freworks that they find a way to get loose.

Fortunately, our dog was petrified, but just ran into her crate & stayed there. Now, post-fireworks, she is worn out from the stress. Our town's fireworks is right across the street from us. I felt terrible for her - she looks almost catatonic right now. But she's cute! :-)

Nanners slept through the bombardment with nary an eyelid lifted, like she always does. Sometimes I'm convinced she's going deaf, then she dashes that thought by hearing the kibble can lid when I lift it... from the back part of the house though four rooms.

Or the Frito bag rustle.
