Yes, our third dog was adopted just this past Friday! We were fostering her and I decided that she is definitely a member of the family and will remain - We've now gotten over the hurdle of the other two dogs not liking her. She is an 11 year old Australian cattle dog and the sweetest dog I've ever met. Her owner abandoned her and her sibling after 10 years because they were leaving the state and wanted to start "fresh." Poor Rayna was dying in the shelter and wouldn't eat as she was depressed and miserable. She is like a different "gal" now and I already love her very much.

Would that by any chance be Rayna from Best Friends in Utah? (A "senior" cattle dog). I love cattle dogs, since knowing little Ezra from Best Friends. I'd only adopt an oldster though- so much energy! My youngest dog, Dodger, is border collie/cattle dog, and he's 11, only slowed down a bit in the last eight years.
Adoption is so cool!

Add- my little cattle dog lived to be 17 and only slowed down in the last couple of days. Fantastically loyal and such fun, congratulations.
Congratulations to everyone who has adopted their new (and) old best friend(s)!

Yes Chaos is adopted as were Jazz, Dash, Phoenix and Maddie ( as well as most of the dogs of my childhood)

Dazzle is my only non adopted dog as Silken Windhounds do not show up in rescue often and when they do they get snapped up fast. Funny as Chaos was being very annoying yesterday so I told her she was adopted but that Good Boy Dazzle was not!

So glad to hear of an older dog getting a new home. I just don't understand how somebody can keep a dog for so many years and then just walk out the door. Baffles the mind.

I've often wondered this also. I use to work at a humane society and when people would bring in a dog they had it's whole life and either going into senior yrs or already there they just give them up. Baffles me to no end. It's so hard to go and adopt one/two I always want all of them

I hear you hear as how can you love a dog for years then suddenly because it is old dump it at a shelter ? When My dogs have gotten old yes I miss the activities we did when they were young but I love them so darn much as the seniors they are and will do what ever it takes to keep them healthy , comfortable and happy as each day of those senior years is a gift. I also tend to add a young dog as they learn so much from a senior and they learn it fast so my seniors have always helped train the next generation.

When I volunteered at Best Friends one of my favorite places was the Old dog town with all the sweet old seniors but I was always wondering how did you end up here? They deserve so much better.
