Wanted to.

Rescues & shelters usually is the first place I look for my pets...
BUT...

This time there is no reply from 4 pups (GSD mixes; probably all adopted off since they are such cuties) we loved from the adoptable section for over a month...
Then, a farmer's relative (who owns a farm too) down south have a Pyr who had one solo one available.
Since it is meant as our only "boy child" for my DH & a present from DD & me...
we decided to make that long journey to get that pup.

And that pup to this day is a big huge mommy's boy (to his own ma & me)... .

We have saved 4 over the years. Of those we have only 2 left. We recently adopted a husky via craigslist although we felt guily afterward for not saving one out of the pound.

From what I understand, rescue is when you get one from a rescue group. Saved should be when you get it from a shelter and adopted can be from a breeder, craisglist, or similar. But then again, everyone has their own definition.

Agreed!!!
Especially when dealing with a mentally strong, stubborn & with every potential to become alpha dog breed.

I am alpha right now as his momma (since even at 50lb, I still carry him around as a puppy with an arm especially when he refuses to do something)... as his own mom would also roll him over should he be too aggressive, I will too. He has to respect either the alpha dog pack mentality order or even the order of "parental" alphas (packing order) in dogs per new studies.

I always say he is a child b/c he IS a family member to us... albeit as a dog.
Besides, me & DH always joked (since I only have DD & he wanted a son too), with all girls in the family, he will have his "son" (in the form of a snapping turtle or a dog) to balance the "sexes" out more evenly (yeah, we got a girl cat too.).

Yes, we adopted an adult lab mix.. He came from the shelter where he was dropped off with no known history--except we know he was starving and had likely been abused by a male, and beaten whenever he barked. He now has a loving family of 2 adults, 2 cats (okay, the alpha cat only tolerates him), has 120 acres of his own, private off leash park, gets fed twice a day, and watches TV siting in our laps. He's indoors with us when we are indoors.

unless a retiring biotch or stud is being taken off of a breeder's hands before they have a chance to kill it or sell it to another breeder, the dog is BOUGHT from a breeder.... no adoption about it at all.....

Then the same can be said about children who are BOUGHT and not adopted.

Yes. I have two GSDs. I adopted female three years ago. She was abandoned together with her brother on a high school campus. The rescue took them in. This February, after going through four (or five) different homes, the brother had nowhere to go. He is 8-10 yr old sweet sweet GSD so I took him in.
