I have a vet visit scheduled for tomorrow but this is really freaking me out!

Some background:

-9 y/o pitbull
-Indoor dog
-Healthy diet
-Regular exercise

The symptoms:

-Started to limp the other morning
-Temp is normal as is his appetite
-Today the limp has improved, almost back to normal form
-On that gimpy shoulder is a lump
-The lump is semi-solid but can move it around, connected directly under the skin (it seems)

I'm hoping/praying it's just arthritis! I'm really close to my dog so this is really sending my anxiety through the roof.

I will keep my fingers crossed that it is just a fatty tumor. Many dogs get them as they age and they are harmless. I know it is difficult but hang in there. Let us know what the vet says.

Let us know how it goes. Thoughts and prayers that the lump is just a lypoma and not lymphoma.

His appointment is in 3 1/2 hours but I examined him today, like I have since he started to show these symptoms:

*Walk is nearly back to normal
*Limp is almost gone
*The biggest improvement: The lump has gone down in size and density (not as hard)

The thing that is racing around my mind is maybe a ligament injury with some fluid build up? I'll know 100% for sure this afternoon.

Will do!

Two summers ago I lost my 12 y/o retriever/akita to osteosarcoma and Snoopy shows no symptoms that he had. In that, I find comfort. But still very concerned. I talked to the vet today just to confirm everything and noted the improved mobility with the 1-inch (my est.) lump still present, though seems a little smaller. She said it could by a cyst or a hematoma directly under the skin.

Fingers crossed!

Update!

The lump is a hematoma from his injured shoulder.

Huge relief! The lump is getting smaller and he also updated all his shots.

He's pouting at me because he had a horrible time at the vet, but it was worth it!

Other than his shoulder he's in great health. Everything checked out, has a "strong athletic heart" and weighed 73 lbs. His anxiety was pretty bad, he spent a good chunk of the time grumbling at the two vets. After they finished clipping his nails he booked it!
