This happened just a few hours ago at Disneyland of all places:

Walking by Sleeping Beauty's castle my daughter and I hear shouting and then something running through bushes and then a SPLASH! A black lab somehow escaped his handler and chased after some ducks, right into the moat (not sure if he jumped the low gate or what).

He took a few laps and I guess he lost sight of the ducks. The handler spotted him exiting from under the bridge and called him over. "John" dutifully swam over and was plucked from the water. The woman collaring him has a shirt that reads Guide Dogs of America so I'm guessing that John is a dog *in training.*

Anyway, here's a photo. Wish I could have jumped in too, temp was over 90 degrees!

Well he gets an F in Disneyland. Thanks for the funny(I think) story. Glad he wasn't actually responsible for somebody's safety.

poor guy, thought he was on vacation too...
But i think he needs to go to a pet home (at his size he should be at least be good on leash and NOT able to slip his collar...
i also think that mabe this association needs to re-think its collar policy a simple martingale collar would have prevented this. glad it was just the ducks spooked.

Kind of like a human who "took time to smell the roses"...

the dog was just "taking time to chase the ducks" ...

black Labs are the best! I always envisioned myself as driving a Jeep, with my black Lab sitting in the passenger seat, going to the Salt River so that he could take a swim..

Somehow I still am black Labless, but I do have a minivan and 3 chihuahuas...

I love the spirit of that dog at Disneyland though!!

This story made me laugh. We have an 8 month Lab/Pointer mix who is going through training to be a therapy dog. On his first trip to a nursing home, he barked at the wheels on the wheelchairs. My wife had to take him outside for a while to calm and sit with a few patients in a more open enviroment. He's getting better, but I can totally picture him taking off after ducks.
