Dash I totally agree with you. Sawyer loves other dogs, when he is a fenced in yard or dog park. If he's on a leash he becomes very reactive if a dog runs right up to his face (at the dog park he doesnt care because he has freedom to run away from that dog if needed and he can outrun most dogs).
I'm the person that started the other thread that CALGUY is referring to, leashes are there for the safety of dogs and people. I wish more people would respect leash laws.

The fact that all of you know and use the term 'reactive' warms my heart! It shows me that real progress is being made as a result of the science-based movement. Dogs and their owners are benefiting greatly from the understanding we've gained over the past few decades. And yes Dashdog, if everyone had to own a reactive dog they'd definitely "get it" about "friendly", "harmless", off leash dogs.
