This is my first dog. I purposely didnt fix him becuase i definitely want to have puppies. Now that he isnt a puppy anymore, is there a proper way to go about finding a mate for him? like puppy dating website?

Is my best bet to just buy a female puppy too? I guess i didnt think this through all the way...

You still aren't thinking it all the way through. Millions of dogs are put to sleep every year in this country, for lack of good homes. Breeding dogs just for the fun of having puppies, or because you think you'll make some easy money is just plain wrong.

Don't breed your dog. If you want a puppy, go out and find a reputable breeder and purchase one.

Before taking another step with your plan, PLEASE PLEASE visit your local animal shelter. There are so many homeless animals in large part because there are not enough homes out there. Please don't add more fuel to the fire.

Thank you for taking this and the previous posts seriously.

Did I say I was just doing it for fun? I don't want another dog, I have numerous friends and family that love my dog so much because of how sweet and cute he is, why cant I breed him? that's basically like saying don't have any babies because you can go adopt 1. is it a crime to breed? isn't that nature?

Do you really think a first time dog owner should be breeding dogs?! What do you know about genetics? What sort of testing has your dog undergone to ensure he won't be passing on terrible traits to his offspring? Do you know how horribly wrong breeding can go? Not to mention - don't you feel any responsibility to make sure you don't add to the staggering overpopulation of dogs which is leading to so much suffering and death? What do you mean exactly when you say you "definitely want to have puppies"??

You need to neuter your dog for his sake, for your sake, and for my sake because this is giving me heart palpitations.

I just checked and there are currently 168,000 homeless puppies, not all dogs, only puppies,on petfinder.com, a nationwide clearinghouse for shelter dogs. And don't kid yourself that because they are puppies they'll all find homes. They won't, although they do have better chances than adult dogs. I wish you would really think about this.

People are not telling you to go to the shelter to adopt - they are telling you to go there and look into the eyes of all the homeless dogs. Then go to another shelter. And then go on petfinder.com and maybe eventually you'll begin to grasp the scope of the pet overpopulation problem.

You're right, I don't know about it, but as you can see im starting my research, it begins somewhere. I have a lot of resources and people I can go to to find out more info, obviously not here, but that's fine.

I'm not trying to become a professional breeder,I am trying to do it 1 time but my guess would be that professional breeders do it for the money but maybe that's just a guess....

uh yeah I think they are are you reading something different? I feel like all of you are assuming that I will be irresponsible without knowing. I know how to do research so just because I don't know something does not mean I won't figure it out and it's not in humane to breed dogs it's inhumane to do it irresponsibly which is why I am doing research. Like I said before people mate all the time and there are plenty of homeless babies and sick babiesbut I'm pretty sure you all I would rather create your own then adopt if you have the option
