Our Huskie/Rott mix had TPLO surgery last September. Before the surgery the surgeon told us there was a 'pin' and a 'plate' put in him. He said the pin had to come out in about two weeks, but that the plate could stay in there. Two weeks later we had the pin removed and never received any information about the plate.

Last week we brought him in for a checkup and the vet (not the surgeon) said he is overdue to have the plate removed. We said that the surgeon said we could just keep it in there. This left us confused.

He is walking just fine. Based on what the surgeon originally told us, we'd rather not open the poor guy back up to remove the plate if it is unnecessary.

Has anyone had TPLO on their dog? Did you leave the plate in or have it removed?

Thank you?

Are there any updates to this? Did you end up leaving the plate in, or did it have to be removed?
