I'm not really worried, I've actually learned to be much more relaxed and generally just let them go at it, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't creating a monster by not intervening in general.

Actually your adult dog seems extremely relaxed and the pup even gives himself a "time out" so I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

I'm very proud of my older dog Jorah, he just turned 1 by the way. I didn't expect him to behave with the puppy so well, he is pretty reactive to other dogs while out on a walk and low-threshold so I thought this would be much more difficult than it has turned out. After the first week or so he seemed to completely accept the puppy.

Well a well-adjusted older dog (or puppy; Jorah is not yet mentally mature so this may well change) will tolerate a lot from a pup.

Since Jorah is reactive with other dogs and you have an uppity puppy and are looking to have a harmonious two-same-sex dog household, I would definitely be the Benevolent Dictator.

Google "nilif."

Chances are all will be cool, but sexual and emotional maturity won't happen until year two or three and better to be a bit over-prepared than under-prepared.

As I was playing that clip Terra came in from the other room to investigate. She's only a year and a half and constantly perks up when dogs are on the tv.

As for the puppy our other dog Molly, who is 7, does the same thing., She gets her hackles up and snarls like she is fighting when she is actually playing.

Very cute and very normal. We call if 'playing spithead'.

When our dogs are playing, I always think they're having a contest to see who can look and sound the scariest. That's big fun!

We have a miniature aussie, as does our neighbor. When the two pups play together it sounds like an entire band of chupacabras

When my Labrador and his best friend, the cocker spaniel next door, played together, it sounded and looked like a dog fight, but they were having a blast. It was like that their whole lives. They liked to play rough. My lab only played like that with the cocker spaniel too. It was clear he knew it was okay to play that way with him, but with other dogs he knew to adjust his play according to the particular dogs.

Our pup makes those noises when she plays with my husband, and only him. He is her very special chew toy. She never does that we with me or the neighbor kids -- no one else. We like it that way.
