Do you have a ball crazy dog? If so what means do you use; toss it with your hand or any of the gadgets on the market? I recently bought a gadget, but won't go into details as I don't want to violate TOS, but you're welcome to PM for more information
My preference is to throw it myself, because i enjoy interacting with my dogs. However, they prefer to toss it around in the air and then 'kill' it by themselves.

We had a Go Dog Go when Jimmy was young enough to enjoy it. I'd sit on the patio next to it, and I would scream with l;aughter as I watched him wait....wait...listen...wait....and then know the EXACT moment the ball would launch. He got so he would take off running just a nanosecond before it flew up into the air. I gave it to a friend when the dogs got too old and infirm to play with it, and now I kind of wish I had it back. It was crazy expensive though, so we just use a Chuckit now. Karma will do anything if I just say the word "CHUCKIT".
We use a Chuckit too when we take the dogs to a field. The main reasons are for distance and because the balls get slimy after a couple of tosses. Poop bags come in handy when returning to the car.
When I was younger (before the gadgets were the "trend") I didn't like the slimy ball, so I got a cool whip or butter container and would keep it in my hand to my side, she would deposit the ball in the container and I would flip it up or toss it and she LOVED it.
It could be 5 degrees and a foot of snow on the ground and she would still want to play!

The Chuckit balls don't get slimy at all. They're terrific. I especially love the glow-in-the-dark chuckit ball. We play with it on the porch after dark.
Obsessed is the word. How about this...when we take her out to pee, she refuses to go until she has a ball in her mouth. Waits by the basket until we give her one.
We are trying to teach her that it IS possible to be outside WITHOUT the ball. So far all we've gotten is a lot of noise.

Oh don't I know about the noise factor. Try when there at least a dozen balls between outside and inside, but she HAS to have the "one" ball, which is under the car
