You have already got great info from everyone else, but my Dads went from speedy to mach 1 as they got older and even though one is up there in years, he hasn't slowed down very much at all.
Give em a job and they are happy as can be and some of the best dogs to have around!!

Congrats! Dogs and kids... nothing more fun.. or more work.
Our Aussie, Ginger, just turned 2 in November. Same ol' bundle of energy. She's a great dog.
Btw- It's Shep herd... you're an owner now so I get to pick on you about the spelling.

As a owner of 2 Black Tris, I am thrilled to see this thread! My boys are now 4, full brothers and totally different personalities. Oh the things they can get into, it is never dull! They are my favorite breed for sure.

Your dog is beautiful. I had a blue merle female Australian Shepherd growing up. She was a little wary of strangers, but once admitted into the house, she would also accept our visitors' coddling.
She lived to be 12 and hip dysplasia is what did her in. She was a beautiful dog but, more than that, she was an intelligent, hyperactive dog. Within our family, she was more loyal to me because I held her for the 30-minute ride home from where we bought her and she slept in a box next to my bed for the first couple of weeks before being transferred to the laundry room where we kept her "dog bed."
Once you've had this breed, you will never own another type of dog. That's my take.

Hello dvflyer. Thanks for straightening me out about the Shep Herd. It is a typo Got any updated picture of Ginger.
Hey the painter got any picture of your Australian Shep Herd. ?
I have to tell you my girl Biscuit is so smart, active and Clicker training was so easy on her. She gets it quick. I even got a wireless fence and I only had to train her once and she stays in the huge yard. It is a lifesaver I tell yah. I am so please with my dog. I wouldn't trade her for anything. We went on vacation to the beach last summer she was in doggy heaven. Loved the water and the fun she had. Had to share!!!

Hi Karey, No pics to post, they are froze up in another laptop that crashed. I had to laugh at the beach image though. Rebound rules the pool here, he really is a pain. If anyone splashes water he dives in an tries to drag them to the steps, he is the local life guard! Loves jumping off the board, floating and retrieving. Have to say that they are the smartest pups I have ever had, and don't plan on ever switching breeds again.
