Hahaha, you know what I meant. The drool - excessive drool. A little drool doesn't hurt anyone, but a gallon of it in the back seat is just disgusting. I don't understand why he freaks out and drools like that, maybe because he doesn't have control over what's going on? I don't know.
I'm having trouble on the CD site today. I posted something a few minutes ago and it ended up being tagged onto a post I made to an entirely differrent thread yesterday. I to do major editing.
Looks like I'm going to come up with a plan tonight, and if anyone can help with modifications to it, I'd be very thankful. The plan is for the car anxiety, which as everyone who's read this thread knows, is very bad. This afternoon after work I was going to take him for a walk, and it would include a short drive. As soon as he approached the car, he turned away, and upon telling him to get in, he approached the car again, and once again turned away.. ears back. I finally lured him into the car and the drool started to drip, I buckled him into his harness and decided this had to change. Instead of going anywhere, I sat in the back seat with him and reassured him it was okay (and catching any drool with a cloth), I did not pet him until he was calm, even though I wanted to when he was filled with sky-high anxiety. He got to the point where he laid down, but he still had that look in his eye, unsure of anything. At points during this, he absolutely tuned me out, he didn't listen to anything I said, and his eyes were wide open.
Anyways, it did actually end well, he ended up being calmer and after about an hour of sitting in back, and in front, I thought it was time to let him out. After I let him out, I played games with him and encouraged him - and he was very happy.
So - My plan is to do this for a week -- Sit in the car with him for an hour and make sure he's comfortable, when it's over with, I let him out and play with him. The following week, maybe I start up my car for 5 minutes and see what his reaction is and once again play with him afterwards, then the final week (or more) I'll slowly drive around my yard once or twice and see how he does.. Any suggestions?
Sounds like one lucky pooch to me/Thanks for all your love for your dog.
