Last night we found a kitten in the middle of the road. We thought it had been hit by a car. Long story short, she was just minutes away from death when we arrived at the animal hospital. Her glucose was 40 due to not having eaten because she's just 4 weeks old. We picked her up from the vet this afternoon. She has a long road ahead of her.

The basset is THRILLED! The kitten, not so much. She's a terrified wreck. She's finally resting in a cage in my son's room.

The basset has FINALLY calmed down and is resting on the sofa looking out the window. He worked himself into a tizzy wanting to love the kitten. He goes between sitting in the hallway quietly whimpering and crying at my son's doorway to sitting in the living room with me looking completely exhausted and stressed out. He's so excited he doesn't know what to do with himself.

I'll post basset updates here. There's a "found kitten on the road" thread in the cat forum for more details on that side of the story.

Oh my gosh, we're going to need pictures (preferably video) of their first real meeting! This could be a great solution to your "companion for the Bassett" dilemma.

Nothing's showing -- just two light blue boxes.

Cupcake kitten! That explains her perfectly!

That bed is for small rodent pets!

I just died from the cute!

Oh my god, Hopes, this is PERFECT!

And you *must* name her Cupcake. Or Chiroptera.

I thought the same thing about naming her Cupcake! My son shot it down. He's in charge. It is his kitten.

He has taken 100% responsibility for her. He's doing a great job. He needed her as much as she needed him.
