I simply do not understand how people can be so stupid. Last weekend I saw three dogs left in a car at the farmers market. The windows were down about 3/4 way and all the dogs had their heads out while people stopped to give them water. Finally the owner came back and was cussed out by market patrons. And to top it all off this jerk was illegally parked in a handicapped spot.

I've called 911 two different times on dogs left in cars. Once in Walmart parking lot and once in Publix parking lot. Both times the owner arrived just as police were getting out of their car. And dang if nothing happened to either owner. It really p#ss*s me off.

People are jerks...so tired every summer of reading about children and pets who perish left in a hot car...and a BULLDOG!!!

It's apparent they had NO clue at all about this breed...when mine was still with us, both hubby and I gone all day, empty house, and we left the AC running for Maggie

WTH is wrong with people. That poor thing. The windows were like an inch down.

At least they arrested the owner. Unfortunately he will probably just go out and buy another one.

And most likely, the first thing the owner did when he got into the car was roll down the windows. This krap happens every summer.

I've called 911 a few times as well when I've seen dogs left in cars with the windows 'cracked.' The dispatcher asked several questions, make, model and plate/tag number as well as location which I gave. Once they asked if I could remain until the deputy could arrive, unfortunately I couldn't. I believe the owners are arrested but at least fined for cruelty and/or neglect.

Living in South FL there aren't many days when it's ok to leave a dog in a car even with the widows wide open. I judge by how hot it is for me and if I'm uncomfortable I know the dog will be too. If I do take her I make sure she has water and leave the windows down about half way and don't leave her for more than 10 minutes while I run errands. If something is taking longer than that I leave and return when I don't have the dog in the car. The only time I leave her longer is at night when it is considerably cooler but I still leave the windows open and make sure she has water because it still gets very warm inside a closed vehicle. She loves riding in the car but I doubt baking is her idea of a good time.

Oh lord I hope not as it seems he had no friggin clue about their breathing issues in the heat....most can not swim either

Do not leave children or pets in hot cars and for goodness sake educate yourself about a breed before you commit to owning a dog...

Heck, when I take my Vito in the car with me, I let him put his head out the window because he loves that, but I also crank the a/c up all the way for him. And I never leave him in the car.

How could someone be so totally stupid and so totally irresponsible to leave a Bulldog in the car with the windows cracked an inch?? Gets me so freaking mad.
