Need I say more? Probably all the corgi owners will know all about it,lol....I am a humanoid owned by a 5 yr old corgi, she is delightful but can be a bit draining sometimes as she apparently feels she is the CEO of the home,LOL

And she proly is the CEO of her home. Herding breeds are very smart and very bossy and very creative if they are bored.

I've owned a corgi (Pem), sheltie and now a Swedish vallhund so I feel I know a fair amount about herding breeds. They are a lot of work.

They ALL need jobs of some sort, most are high level energy, they NEED jobs, they can develop OCD behaviors throughout their lives, they all need JOBS.

Odie my SV will be my last herding breed dog, as I age I'm looking for more of a sofa slug dog that is less creative.

One of my FAVORITE client dogs is a little Corgi. He was a rescue, kept chained up for 3 years so he's a little behind the learning curve. He drowned in a lake swimming with a stick, and the owner, a medical doctor gave him CPR and he survived. I felt guilty because I saw a photo of him doing that on the fridge and thought "that's dangerous for him" but didn't want to sound bossy warning the owners, then he drowned a month later!

He is super affectionate, attentive and a sponge. ANYTHING you want to do he's up for it. He'd make a super flyball dog. He's also sensitive to storms and needs his crate to calm down in one. If you let him sit with you or on the bed or whatever he can't settle.

I don't call them stubborn, they have strong instincts and those instincts need to be challenged or they have no outlet for their energy.

The Permanent Corgi Smile
