Lots of it. I told my husband today I thought he was very quiet.
Fortunately, it's all tiled but what's the cure?
PS - I called the vet and was directed to an ER I don't care for. We could go to our old vet (24 hours) but our new vet is great; just doesn't have nighttime hours.
This the first time he has been sick. I can't find where he ate anything he wasn't supposed to.
Has he been vaccinated against Parvo? If not you may want to call the e-vet back or your old vet. If there is any blood or he appears to be very lethargic I would go tonight, not sure I would wait it out over a holiday until Tuesday no matter what.
You can give him pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie mix. I give my 50lb dog a heaping tbsp. Be sure he drinks water, lo sodium chicken broth is good too to keep him hydrated. I would withhold food until you talk with a vet, then boiled rice, chicken, turkey or ground beef.
First thing I checked on was that - yes, back in June, got all shots and got neutered too.
My husband just told me he may have picked up something by a tree. Both dogs went at it; sometimes, my hubs is picking up the items they left behind so he may have missed it totally.
Our other dog has not gotten sick (yet).
Thanks for that advice. I feel slightly better knowing there's a possibility he may have eaten something foreign. Other than that, he's becoming a good boy.
Yes, Parvo would have been my first thought, but it is good he was vaccinated. There is more than one dose of Parvo vaccine they need, did it have the series? I had a puppy get Parvo once, right in the middle of the Parvo vaccine series. She got very sick but recovered. Watch out for the poop getting bloody.
The dog could have certainly eaten something it shouldn't have.
If it continues into tomorrow or gets worse you should take him to the vet.
Well, the diarrhea seems to have stopped (light brown color) but he doesn't want to even drink water.
It's 24 hours right now and the water bowl is there. So far, he's just goes in his little house and curls up. His nose is cold and he's been going out.
Time to see the vet--dehydration in itself is dangerous for a puppy, regardless of the cause. Our First Dog was saved by subcutaneous hydration when she contracted Parvo (3 days after getting her first Parvo shot...), and lived 13 happy years with us after that. Don't take any chances, see the vet!
How is the puppy now? Did you get in to the vet? My alarms are diarrhea and then not wanting anything, possibly ate something in the yard could mean blockage!!
Diarrhea in and of itself dehydrates an animal, so when you add to that the animal is not drinking, that is bad, get it to a vet.
