We all know finding a vet that actually does raw or pushes proper food could leave you vet-less. Depending on where you live.

Its the mega corperations that push crap food to get vets rich and pets sick. that's the problem to top it off most vets are not taught raw feeding/or the benefits of such a diet. its like they are part of a cruel experiment.
Yes, it is so sad that it has come to this point our advanced society. I do believe vets love animals. How could they not? As we all know, corporations, such as pet food companies, are multi-nationals and trade on the stock market so their interest is in profit margins for shareholders, not us. I've had difficulties finding a vet that didn't push unnecessary tests, shots, using scare/guilt tactics (if you don't do this! ...type of thing), and overcharging in my area.

I've seen reports that in my Province we pay the most for basic vet services in Canada. I do hope that is looked into soon by our Provincial Government. What really bothers me is that I am withheld basic information for treatment options or treated like I'm not capable of comprehending.

I have been having a hard time finding a vet that I can trust. I will have to go out of town. I'm so glad for the internet and being able to do extensive research because then I can gear my Maltese's diet according to the bladder stone she had once it has been analyzed. Is it...Struvite? (I'm thinking that's the one...), Oxalate?, Urate? or Cystine?.... some of these are breed predilection... Still waiting...agh!

And to be honest I was not that strict as he still ended up eating dog treats and stealing food from Phoenix and later Dazzle but his basic diet was low oxalate foods and lots of water . I added water to all of his meals to keep his kidneys well flushed. I do agree Vets are educated in nutrition by the big dog food companies and like drug companies that is big business and are out to make the sale.
Thank you for your post. Good for you. Sending love to you and your doggies. Let's keep our dogs healthy ourselves. With a little knowledge, it so doable.

I know. I started the treatment with this vet and it costs more to switch while in treatment. I'm looking for other vets. I most likely have to go out of town.
