to ask that a post/discussion be deleted? Pls. feel free to post or PM me. Thx
Go to the very, very bottom of this forum where it says "Administration Zone". That is where you would post a question to delete your thread. I've done it many a times. Good Luck~!
Usually, unless the tread violates the TOS in such a way that it never should have been posted to begin with, Mods will not delete the post except if asked by the person who started it and they give a good reason. From what I've been reading in the Admin Zone, topics that people don't like, don't agree with the responses, or they don't like the subject matter, isn't a reason for deletion; it may result in the thread being closed, but usually not a deletion.
There have been several discussions in the Admin Zone about threads that raised eyebrows, but since the purpose of an open forum is the free exchange of opinions (pro & con, for & against, like or dislike) just because its not popular belief doesn't mean it's not worthy of discussion. Unless a TOS violation is occuring or the thread goes to all heck, it appears they prefer to let it stay active and not walk the censorship tightrope.
Also, once a post is deleted, it would appear as in the topic forum you posted but....will appear as slightly lighter in color and a different font as well as marked "deleted". And you won't be able to click on the link. I've had numerous of mine deleted by my request and the moderator did it without my request.
I had a post a long time ago that inadvertently included another person's name, and she asked that I delete it so it wouldn't appear on if she were googled. That was her main concern, not that it appeared in the forum. All I can do is try.
Bright--did you use the user name or her real name? I think if you explain to the mod (especially if you mistakenly used the real name) it would be taken care of. I've asked mods to close a thread I started when it ran its course and also asked a mod to help me out when I posted the wrong picture. they (well at least most of them) are eager to help.
