I tried to take a 6 week training course, but not much really came of it. We learned sit and down and watch me, but I was hoping to get further than that. Not sure if the group training was for us. Most of the class was trying to get Bella to focus on me rather than the other dogs in the room. Private training is not an option due to cost.

I'd really like help with how she greets people (she turns into a maniac when she see's other humans and dogs). She's a big jumper and while I simply turn and ignore her when she does it to me (and only praise her when she has all feet on the floor), I don't know how to approach it with strangers on the street or in the store, etc.

As for dogs, when she see's them, she lunges and barks, but not because she wants to eat them, but because she wants to play with them! I just wish she would be more calm, but I don't know how to work with her to make that happen.

I'm open to books, videos or websites.

Thank you in advance.

After you get better control at home start using friends to help train her to behave. The move up to groups of strangers like classes. Even if your doing basic again.

People learn differently.

Some people (myself) do better reading books, others do better watching videos, and others by going to a class.

An older training book I really liked was written by The Monks of New Skete.
