A couple of weeks ago, we couldn't find our dog anywhere and she usually sticks around close to our area.
Several hours went by and we were looking around and calling her. I happened to go by the car for some reason and I saw a black tail wagging. No barking. I opened the door and she came out.
We had the door open earlier in the day and i guess she jumped in and must have fallen asleep but she had to have been in for about 3 or 4 hours.

omg I thought I was the only one with this issue. I have a 14 month old golden retriever/german shepherd mix. She was sick with mange when I first adopted her and wanted nothing more than to lye with me in my bed. Then we made a trip in my jeep with her kennel. I cant get her to sleep in house to save my life. It is getting cold and I am worried. I literally go out at midnight and warm car. When she goes in house because I am at work or school she whines at door until I return and take her and kennel to car. How do you get her to stay in house with you? Please [mod] email removed [/mod]. She has gone through training and they had no idea how to help me.

Am I the only one who is wondering how exactly the dog got in the car?

OP, do you keep the windows completely down or keep the doors open at night?

I didn't get it either. Just being the dog inside.

These are all funny stories, but each has the potential to be tragic in hot or very cold weather.

They just go to prove how easily an intelligent, animal-loving, responsible pet owning person can forget a dog in a car on a hot day or a cold night. It's very easy to point fingers when we hear news stories of it happening. We all think to ourselves that the owner was neglectful or careless when they've left their pet in a hot car and it dies heat exhaustion.

Let this be a reminder that all your funny stories like this just prove that it can happen to loving, caring pet owners.
