Purina files lawsuit...Important reading:

In the interest of ensuring pet owners understand what is in the pet food they buy, on May 6, Purina filed a lawsuit in U.S. Federal District Court in St. Louis against The Blue Buffalo Company Ltd., for false advertising. We took this action because we believe that Blue Buffalo is not being honest about the ingredients in its pet food.

Pet Food Honesty

Pet Food Honesty

I have a dog that absolutely cannot have any form of poultry due to an eye condition. It's not fair to pet owners not to have ingredients listed correctly and completely. Fortunately, we weren't using this brand of dry food.

I changed last week to Whole Earth Farms from Blue Buffalo because my shepherd vomited to many time during the month he was on BB, and I finally traced the problem to the BB.
He is doing exceptionally well on this new brand, and one thing I like about it is, the food is as close to food for human consumption as one could get.
I am talking about their canned food.
The beef stew brand looks every bit as tasteful as beef stew for humans.
Another thing, all ingredients are from here in the USA, so I don't worry about those inferior foods from China.
I am happy that I found this product.
As a side note, the dog food advisor gives it a five star rating, which is the best.

Bob.

Mine too.

I have encountered dogs who didn't tolerate it well too but that can be found with any food.

I can't wait until I have time to review some of the links presented in this thread.

My vet actually said that at least Purina gives out their REAL nutritional information upon request. He says that if Blue Buffalo is as good as they claim to be, why won't they give out the actual nutritional data that the veterinary community requests of them? They claim it is "proprietary." He has issues with that lack of transparency and so do I. I think that there's a lot more brilliance with their marketing than there is in the formulation of the actual food. Unfortunately, I don't think the cool shiny labels with wolves and lynxes really impress our pets...

Our cat loves Blue Buffalo duck recipe. I alternate his foods, and this will continue to be in the rotation.
