Shazam! Shazam! Shazam! Well, golly Sgt. Carter. You did a good thing.

It also shows that some people have dogs when they shouldn't. Original owner didn't spend enough time with the dog to train him properly - or to provide adequate exercise routine.

I've been there - with a dog that was more than I had time for - so I think the old owner did the right thing too in giving him up.

Sounds like he's found a good home now.

Another happy update. Chance is doing well with his new human and animal family.

After reading so many stories of cops shooting dogs, (or killing people for that matter), it's refreshing to find that SOME cops out there still have a clue, and do the right thing. If there is some sort of training that they get, as someone said, and it's working, they really need to go to every precinct in the country and teach some of those....others...how to act around animals.

Finally, a good cop/dog story.
