Ok well I also have a question for y'all. I have been working with animals for a while now and I love them. I'm looking into starting dog sitting. I have watch dogs a lot in my life and never really got paid for it. Now that I'm older and need money bad. My boss has 15 dogs of her own in her house. I have stayed at her house before and watched all her dogs but she only paid me $150 for 5 days. I also work there and take care of the kennel dogs. I still get my hourly pay there. I stayed there again for 2 days and got paid 50$. I feel like I'm getting rip off bad. Does anyone agree? She wants me to come watch her dogs again for a week and I don't no what to charge her? Let me remind y'all, I am staying there all day and all night. It's not a come for a hour and walk her dogs and let them out and then feed them kind of thing. I'm there the hole time with them, I play with them let them sleep in the bed with me and also keep her house clean and do her dishes and laundry. Can anyone help me with a price? My boyfriend wants me to charge no less the 500$. I think that's a little much and I think they will find someone else. But I was thinking if I charge 500$ that 7$ a dog for one day. And it's for 7 days. Can someone help me??? Please

A lot depends on where you live and the going rate. I would agree with you, $500 for 7 nights is a little high. My husband actually has a pet sitting business: here is how he charges: when staying with in someone's home overnight he charges $25 a day for the first 3 animals and $3 a day for each additional one. I think that comes out, for a week to just over $400. Regardless of who is right, you or boyfriend, $25 a night, like she paid you in he past is not nearly enough for that many dogs.

Where I live the going rate is $20/visit.(walk and feed) and we used to have the sitter 4 times a day so that would be $80/day.No difference how long we were way.

Our dogs are old now so we just us take them with us for the short get aways we go on now.

We would never leave our dogs at a boarding place.

15 dogs/what is up with that?

I 'm in Northern Virginia. I pay my sitter $25 per visit. When I go away, she comes in 4 times a day, so it's $100 per day.

The woman who takes my dogs into her home when I travel charges me (a discounted rate) of $25 per dog per day. The dogs are also in her home. I provide whatever they need - crates, blankets, food.

I give the little girl across the street $50 just to check their water and food bowls, no poo clean up and not staying or walking them for 4 days. All she had to do was open the door and check their dishes.

Call some kennels around town and see what they charge if she had to take them to a place like that. Then come in just under that. I know myself I prefer to have them home than in a kennel and most dog owners do too. Remember they are not in YOUR home, nor do you have to shell out to feed them. That would be the only difference.

You could also negotiate a rate on staying there and a rate if you don't and just check on them once a day.
