Anybody have experience using these with older dogs?
When my dog lost her sight due to SARD, her thirst has increased and I can't deny her water. She can usually wake me up, several times a night to go out, but not always and will have to pee inside.
do you have an area that you can put a crate and some baby gates, giving the dog a place to hang out. cover the floor with pads? if you restrict where she can go you will have less accidents. best of luck.
There are some pads made by Nature's Miracle which might help that are pheromone treated to aid in the training process. I saw them at PetSmart as well as on Amazon.
I'm using a doggy diaper at times on my elderly labrador, but at night I have her bed covered in incontinence sheets designed for humans and to put on things like sofas.
I'm wondering if there is any medication available to help prevent these mini leaks she suffers from.
I know that in humans there are drugs used to help stabilise the detrusor muscle, which surrounds the bladder.
There is a drug your vet would be able to give you, but I would try something natural first. Bladder Strength by vetri science works very well. There is also Homeopet drops but I have found they are not as good, although some people say they work great too.

Is it possible she has a UTI or possibly diabetes? Is she on a new medication which might be causing this?
Sorry if it was already mentioned and I missed it. Increased thirst could be a sign of diabetes or possibly other medical issues and changes in leaking in the house could be a urinary tract infection.
I have an old foster dog that the minute her feet hit the floor in the morning I am up and running with her to the door. When she first got here I believe she had a UTI and the antibiotics she was sent with helped some. She also turned out to have Cushings and since she is on meds for that her ability to hold her water has improved.
She tinkled last night and I got her immediately afterwards and swatted her butt, then stuck her on the pad, but she's like "Duh, mom. I told you I had to pee. That's what that growl meant." She's always been very stubborn and would rip a diaper off in a heartbeat.
She sleeps in my closet/bath/dressing room, which is, unfortunately, mostly carpeted. So I think the baby gate is the best idea. I can cordon off an area.
BTW, the Woolite carpet spray cleaner for pets is great!
