We had to be at a house fixing plumbing under the house. The yard contained two Boxer dogs who are simply crazy out of control. By the end of the afternoon, I was covered with mud and dog slobber from being jumped on, drooled on, pushed, shoved, and pawed at. I spent the entire time in fear of being knocked off my feet.

As we left, I turned to my son and thanked him for being so tough on Wyatt McRiot. Wyatt used to be even worse than the pair of Boxers. He not only jumped on people, he tried to claw his way up their front. He's not as big as the Boxers, but he is fast and strong and used to be crazy out of control.

Wyatt now has beautiful manners. No matter where we go or what we are doing, Wyatt is the best behaved dog there. My son has been tough on Wyatt. No excuses accepted. Do it right; no "or else", just the one option.

Sometimes that is what it takes for a tough, strong, high energy, high powered dog to fit himself into society. There have to be rules and the rules have to be enforced. Wyatt doesn't mind. He loves going with us. He loves it when strangers feel it is safe to pet him because he is so well mannered. He loves his long runs where he can be loose because he comes when he is called. He loves the praise he gets every time he does it right.

The only problem is that Wyatt has moved his sleeping place to next to my son's bed. Hey, that's supposed to be my dog!
