I've used socks and dog booties to protect the dog's paws, not my floors. They tend to be hard to keep on the dog, and the dog has to adjust to the booties. My current ones have mental difficulty adapting to the booties and keep acting like they can't walk when they are on. They wear the boots to protect their paws from ice buildup in winter, which some years is a problem, or to protect their paws when they are injured. Like a torn pad.

What are your floors made of?
