Dear Golden mom, So sorry to hear about Noah's seizure, Like PudelPie said they are not pretty. Lose of sight and disorentation is very common after the seizure. I have lost 2 Goldens to epilepsy, The last started around 2 years. She was 8 when it was time to let her go. (You know when it's time) I'm not saying this to scare you and hopefully this was a once and done thing. But just incase you should have some facts.
This web site is a wealth of information:
Canine Epilepsy Network
Add Potassium Bromide to the list of drugs to talk to the vet about.
Keep good records of seizure activity, Times, dates, duration, how long post ictal lasts. Also if there is something that seems to trigger them.IE. Certain Foods, Moon phases that sort of thing.
Many times the cause is never known without a very expensive battery of tests. Normally if they reaccure the vet will just treat with anti seizure meds,
In my experiances with great success.
Remember the dog is unconscious during the episode so do what you can to keep him safe, Move him so he doesn't hurt himself while thrashing around.
Once again I hope you don't need any of this information, but just in case.
Living with a dog with epilepsy is not really different than any other dog.
Good luck, Hope this helped
Joe
