So does this mean a piece of broken dish or coffee cup would do the same thing? I would rather carry that in my glove compartment than a spark plug and a hammer.

I carry one of these in my car. Fits into the center console easily. Hammer tip to break the window, recessed blade to cut through the seat belt and a two AA battery flashlight all for $15.

I carry something similar but mine doesn't have a flashlight.

There is more pressure per square inch applied with a small object than a large object.

Actually an angle hit from the front edge of a semi-auto handgun will break a window in a car/truck very efficiently. Don't ask how I know, but it works. I would guess the same would be true of a revolver or any piece of steel, including a tire iron.

Just make sure your finger is not on the trigger. Again, has to be on an angle, allowing for a smaller area to contact the glass.

The old trick for fireman when they had those heavy flexible antennae that were usually placed right by the drivers door was to bend the antennae flat onto the window. Pull the end back and let it fly.
