I have a 7.5 years old chug.(pug and chihuahua mix). From yesterday evening, he walks back and forth and he did not sleep all night. What can cause him to pace and not lay down for more than few sec?

Today,do I need to take him to vet?

Hi Sha3205:

Our basenji did that for a while toward the end of his life. He was 17 years old and had had a couple of seizures when he was younger as a reaction to anesthesia, on two separate occasions. Then when he got older and began to have health issues, he began having seizures out of the blue on occasion. After these episodes, he would pace. At first he would be very disoriented, and would bump into things, etc., but would continue to pace for long periods of time. I suspect that he had had seizures that we were unaware of because there were a few times we found him pacing but hadn't witnessed the seizure itself. It was only a little later that we put the two together.

I hope you got your guy to the vet and figured it out.

I would take him to the vet and have him checked as pacing at night is often a sign of pain. Dash would pace at night when he had nasal cancer and would get too stuffed up so breathing via his nose was hard sp he paced and panted.
