Shouldn't it be mostly or totally digested after 5 hours?

I am now mixing a bit of canned food with the kibble and adding water or broth to the mix. How well do puppies digest dry kibble?
3 months old pup only eats the soaked food. Feed it milk. All creatures like milks.

A 5 month old might eat harder food. You might find this out, when it starts staring at your food.

Dry is not species appropriate. However, many will attempt to dispute that fact... including vets that are HEAVILY influenced by the pet food industry.

One thing people can not argue is the fact that dogs are not physically capable of chewing kibble. Their mouths only move up and down, not side to side.

Kibble is kibble is still kibble!

Congrats on your new pup! Do share some pictures.

Wow I can't believe someone posted on this topic. I was going to call the vet b/c I was so worried. I bought my dog 3 diff types of food to see if he still vomitted after eating. I also noticed it was coming out not chewed up, still whole. He also scarfs it down. ow I actually do mix soft wet food w/ his dry dog food. It has helped. Also I just bought him this purina brand in a red bag that is dry food but has real lamb pieces in it. So it isn't as dry and hard as the others. He hasn't thrown up since.

I did a test of the 2 puppy foods I have now. I put a few kibbles of each into a small amount of water and let it sit - for hours. One never got very soft. The other softened a bit on the outside but still had a hard center.

Nothing scientific here, but if I tried to eat something that hard and dense, I would be up all night with heartburn and go through a whole bottle of Tums trying to digest it. But somehow this little 10lb puppy IS digesting it (when not being taken for car rides on bumpy roads :-)
