This vet doesn't want to lose his gravy train. Did the OP ever price insulin anywhere else ? Did the OP even think she might have been scammed?

OP get all your records- he must give them to you by law and take them to a new vet. Use CD in your area to find reputable vets to try. Good luck.

It's weird in California the vet has to offer you a written prescription, but in Texas there are no such rules, and they don't even regulate the markup of drugs sold by a Vet so I guess unless you can find a vet who doesn't exercise his 'rights' to rip you off you are pretty much screwed:

Vetsulin online WITH Rx from a Vet Costs $50 a bottle. Human Insulin [there are 3 kinds] from Walmart & a Vet Calling in the 1st Rx cost $28 a bottle.

IF the OP is Paying $300 per month from the Vet. That's a Hell of a mark up hes Ripping him customers off!
