Keep 2 of the favorite toys (at minimum) so that you don't have to move furniture every time ask me how I know?

Bad experiences personally over the years with hooves, antlers, rope toys, baked bones and rawhides.

I do give my dogs raw rib beef bones (but I feed raw). They have to be outside until all the meat is off of them, then they can bring them in to their crates. I consider them the best pacifier in the world, and I buy them by the case. They don't consume the whole thing, but they do like to clean them off, and gnaw on them later. I take them away after a few days so they don't get too dry or small and splinter.

Granted I do have a lot of experience with this, and you might not be comfortable with it. They do make white coats messy for a bit. I had to wash my Komondors face off each time, he would clean his own messy paws. But I have not had a dog that chewed anything out of the ordinary since, except my GSD who LOVES logs, and 2 X 6 boards. His teeth show it.

Mine love bully sticks too, but they go fast, stink and are messy too. And I find it hard to find USA sourced, etc....
This is a good guideline and advice.

Kongs can be great, use a variety of fillings to keep interest high and only give them at time you expect a lot of chewing. I think I own 5 or 6, I make a bunch at the same time and keep them in the freezer for when we go out and Finn goes in his crate.

I have also had issue with antlers. My older dog actual broke a tooth. I only give bully sticks while I am supervising, and even then only rarely. They are too high value an object for my dogs and they eat them much too fast.

I have never had a dog have any issues from rawhide but I am very careful to only get the unflavored, american made ones, and I do supervise when they are first introduced.

I've found BeneBones to be a HUGE hit with my gang. They last forever!
