Mods
I hope it is okay to post this.
I received this email from someone who has my Elwood's littermate.
I can't believe this person did not say what color the mastiff is.
She could be fawn, apricot fawn or brindle. For sure she will have a black mask, all mastiffs do.

MASTIFF STOLEN - please crosspost

Mar. 1, 2008

14-month old intact female Mastiff taken from car at Homestead Suites in Secaucus, N.J. She was in town for the dog show.

Last seen at 7:15 a.m., crated in the back of the breeder's SUV. Was left in truck while breeder went into the room to attend to some last minute details. She came out at 7:20 a.m. and the dog was missing. The leash and water bowl were also taken.

A police report has been filed and all shelters and vets are being notified.

The dog's name is Pounder (Bellawood No Doubt About It) and she is approximately 160 lbs.

Please keep Pounder and her breeders and owners in your thoughts and crosspost this message to get the word out.

Any information please contact Pounder's breeder:

I can almost assure you it was an animal rights wacko. If they see a dog in a vehicle unattended by a person - that dog is gone. In some areas, they will even smash a window to "rescue" the dog. They will not answer "lost" ads nor report it to the police or shelters. If it had been done by a member of law enforcement or any authority, a note would have been left on the vehicle where you could retrieve said dog.

Animal Rights wackos are the scariest people on the planet, in my opinion.

I hope she finds her dog. Dogs that size need people who really understand their needs.

Disclaimer: An animal rights wacko and an animal rights advocate are not the same thing. The wacko has his/her own brand of dealing with their own distorted ideas about what should and should not be allowed or legal in a free society.

I thought about this, too. It sure was early in the morning, though.

Wackos will "rescue" a dog at midnight.

Also, if the mastiff was in town for a dog show (which this dog was), the "rescuers" might have been already hanging around, looking for an opportunity.

It could have also been amateur dog fighters...looking for an opportunity to crossbreed a mastiff type dog with a fighting breed to increase size.

This is so sad...hope the local news covers it. That would help. It's pretty hard to hide a mastiff, so hopefully someone will turn the theives in.

It's amazing to me that on one end of the spectrum, we have dogs in dire need of a forever home that are being turned away in every state in the country and this end of the spectrum where wack jobs are stealing dogs from responsible owners.

I am so sorry this has happened and hope that
1. this mastiff is found and returned to his rightful owner, as few understand the needs of this gentle giant and
2. that those who stole him will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
