I think it's a great idea; as long as the mourners appreciate dogs and are not allergic. I certainly would have loved to pet a dog when I visited the funeral home to make arrangements for my mother's final rest. (I had boarded my own dog at the kennel for a couple of weeks, because I had so much to do that I knew I would not be able to care for him well)
