800 small dogs seized from Ariz. home - Yahoo! News (broken link)

I think there should be charges against them for animal cruelty and neglect.

THere should be. ANd how many shelters have room for all those animals? Some who are there now or in the new group will have to be put to sleep. Very sad.

Default huge tragedy!

It's hard to believe there could actually be 800 dogs in one home. I can't even comprehend that. I only wish the owners could be thrown into prison...oh, that's right...even in prison you get your own space. Better to euthanize the owner since our prisons are so full. We will pray for these poor forgotten dogs and birds. How do you handle finding homes for this many animals? A real tragedy...huge bummer. They're probably in poor health too. What a shame!!!

Wow! That is unbelievable! I'm with you APBT_Samara, I don't see how 800 dogs could possibly fit in a mobile home?! I don't see how ANYONE could think that it is okay to have that many dogs, there is NO way they could actually think those dogs are happy and healthy living like that! In my opinion, people like that should be institutionalized! People like that obviously aren't mentally alright, you know? I do feel bad for hoarders though, in a way. That is different from someone that really means to hurt their pets. I definitely do not agree with hording and there is nothing about that that is okay, at all. But hoarders aren't mentally well, they don't see what they are really doing to their animals. I don't think people like that should necessarily be punished, I think they need to get the help they need and their pets need to get the help they need and need to be re-homed. Anyway, that is nuts! I have never heard of anything like this! I am just amazed that 800 dogs could fit in any home, much less a mobile home! They must have literally been on top of one and other! That is so sad...

I was trying to imagine how someone would fit 800 dogs in a trailer. Here's the news story, most were chihuahuas and they had up to a dozen/crate. I guess they weren't spayed/neutered and just ran around impregnating each other? That's the only thing I can think of.
