Curiosity question: what would cause a young dog to lose teeth?

My Kona knocked out a tooth at a picnic when she decided to catch a Bocce Ball, she was a very serious ball dog.

A car accident could have easily caused enough trauma to knock out teeth, or they may have never been there to begin with.

My babe just lost one this past week and she is 6 months. So, that's about right.
