Fantastic! I noticed you had posted and popped right in to see how things were going! So, how much does he weigh now? Good news about the car, and getting on with all the family dogs!
A few weeks ago, the vet weighed him at 45 lb. We have an appointment for him today. He should be a lot more than that. He's been eating very well. And he's a growing boy.

Based on what you've said and the pictures, I'm assuming he's at least part Pyr. Congrats on your new pony!
He's doing very well with us. We brought him to my parents' house for our family holiday get together. Since we are a dog family, between all of us we brought a total of 8 dogs to my parents' house. Fortunately, my folks have a large house and plenty of fenced-in back yard for them to run around in. Maxy was very playful with the rest of the pack of dogs.
Oh yeah, good news regarding the car. He is getting used to the car. Yesterday, we took him to the park. When we left the house, we had to carry him into the car like always. When we left the park, he got on the car all by himself. He's also not panicky and anxious while in the car like before. Now, he just sits in there and look out the windows.
We really love him. He's very cuddly in bed.
Well now you've done it.
Every time you get your keys he will want to go for a ride.
Just stumbled upon this thread. Love this happy story!
More updates on Maxy please!!
Not much, really. He's good with the car now. In fact, he jumps into by himself when I open the door. Been taking him to my office, like right now at this moment. While I'm doing some work, he goes around getting petted by other people in the office. He really likes attention from people.
We have always been convinced that he was someone's family dog before I found him in the middle of nowhere. Why? Because he would not go to the bathroom inside the house. He yelps and scratches the door whenever he needs to go out. Well, yesterday at the dog park, we talked to this one lady about it. She said that her black lab was raised outside for the first 6 months of his life before she adopted him. He only would go outside as well. So, I'm thinking may be he was always a stray and that insisting on going to the bathroom outside was just a result of being used to being outside. Anyway, there's really no way to know for sure.
He likes to sleep on the couch, though. And he prefers inside much more than outside.

What a great New Year's update! So happy for all of you. I would think that Maxy is learning that Car Rides lead to Fun Activities; so he's calming down in the car.
You've done a wonderful thing in taking Maxy for your own; I'm so glad you found each other.
This story is such a happy story when so many animal stories on the Internet are sad.
Thanks, and I hope you and your new handsome boy have a great life together!
