My dogs always show high titers and they are 7yrs and 8yrs old.
That's awesome. I wish we offered titers as a regular service. Maybe someday...

I use tea tree oil on my dogs. I mix a little bit with water in a spray bottle and use it after they swim in the river. It makes their coats nice and shiny and smells REALLY good too.

Its also a disinfectant that was given to our soldiers in ww2 for wound cleansing.

Thanks AZRiverRat! I'm going to try that.

As for the Pennyroyal oil, I found the following information on Wikipedia:"Pennyroyal oil should not be used as a natural flea repellent due to its toxicity to pets, even at extremely low levels". I wouldn't use garlic or onions either because I'm also heard they can be toxic to pets. I know some pets tolerate things differently, but I wouldn't want to risk it.

I'm also interested in natural things, but tea tree & other essential oils are out since I don't want to endanger my cats (one grooms my dog) and many essential oils are toxic to cats. I know tea tree is toxic to cats (and I can't stand the smell). Diatomaceous Earth sounds good, but from what I understand, it won't keep ticks off your dog (it doesn't repel them) it just kills them once they're on the dog.

Any other ideas?
