i have three dogs and they pull up grass and dig in the soil and eat something. anyone have any ideas and how can i stop this?

are they bored? digging is often a sign of boredom in dogs.

i doubt the larvae and grubs they are eating will hurt them.

Possibly grubs - it's the immature larval form of the scarab beetle. Not certain when they are most prominent in the triangle but up North, the peak is July. They look like little white worms. You can tell if you have them by pulling the grass up and looking at the attached soil. They can decimate a lawn but are easily treatable. Again, this is just a thought.

i really just need to know how to treat the area and need to know if they might be eating the grass roots.

they are in a large fenched yard and are digging the daylights out of it. it seems the pull up grass and eat something at the root. believe me-they are never bored!! lol

it has been two years and three dogs later since i put out pesticide and fertilizer or aerated the yard. my friends have seen them do this and it does look like they are eating roots. the property never had anything put on it. also, how do i keep them out of my flower beds. one pup dug up bulbs and brought them back to me!!
