Dachshunds are notorious peepee dogs too. I found with ours - at first training, you cannot take them out too often. On the weekends, let them out every hour to an hour and a half the first year. It worked... they figured it out.
Crated during the day while we were at work. They had accidents at first, then after a month or so, they didn't anymore. Then they graduated to no crate, but the one would still go sleep in there during the day anyway on her blankie.
They would at times, be bratty, and revert and start having accidents (mostly when it was cold and they didn't want to go out!). Then back to the training and crate during the day for a while.
