Service and therapy dogs are different things and my case is a service dog I am trying to get and that is the topic I am trying to discuss by the way.

Don't need the animal according to whom? Don't have legitimacy? You are trying to discuss getting a service dog? Why are talking about the legitimacy of other peoples service dogs?
It sounds to me like you are trying to inflame this issue, and you seem pretty hung up on "anger issues."

Well, I just hope you don't think I'm the enemy here, cause I didn't say one word against A.D.A, I'm all for it. I just don't like people who abuse it.

No actually, it is the example my husband used and explained to me when we discussed it when I talked w/ him about the message board and asked his opinion when I told him I felt.
As far as anger goes, I'm quiet middle of the road. You're the one who is just non stop going after a battle here, why? I do not know, maybe you're the one who needs a therapy dog? I do not know. I don't think you and I actually need to chat any further if all you'd like to do is bicker. This isn't a chat or even excahnge about a topic, you're just "ANGRY" and hung up on A.D.A and we were discussing Alzheimers dogs. Have a good day and smile and be happy. Life is way too short!

It seems that you are using a discussion of Alzheimers service dogs to question the legitimacy of untold numbers of OTHER peoples service animals, maybe you should stick to discussing YOUR needs and stop disparaging other people you have no AUTHORITY or EXPERTISE to judge.

Okay, according to what reading I've done,.. I can have MY pup certified as a service dog. I can train him myself, for my particular needs. Before anyone thinks I'm "abusing the system" I have M.S. and he would be required to retrieve a dropped cane, later a walker, perhaps a wheelchair or cell phone. My needs are quite a bit simpler than some others may be but, my mobility will become more difficult with time. As my dog is growing and learning I can train him to assist me without a lot of specialized guidance. Thanks everyone for your input.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has provided broad protections for disabled persons, including those who use a companion or service dog. Further, handlers of these dogs are not required to carry documentation from a trainer, and the dogs do not have to be formally certified. It is illegal under the ADA for a dog handler to be required to reveal her/his disability which entitles him/her to have a service dog. For further information on the ADA, consult the U.S. Department of Justice's website at http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/ada/adahom1.htm

Reading the whole thread might make thaings clearer. I've followed it from the beginning, which was about a dog that ate off plates in a restaurant b/c the dog's owner claimed it was a service dog and was allowed in there; no one disputed a SD was alowed, they just didn't think it should eat off the plates and some questioned the legitimacy of it being a SD. Prinny was the one who was attacked, not the one doing the attacking.

After you Home train your dog You can go to Any Certified Master trainer in your area to Evaluate you & your dog & Get PAPERS that says he IS a Service Dog. But papers or not You & your dog CAN Not be refused service any where AS long as the Dog is Not a Disruption to others! ADA Rules And It IS the FEDERAL LAW!!!

msina, sorry about your M.S. that is an awful disease. A service dog is a great idea! I'd get one, heck I want one for my illness. I don't think your needs are simple at all.
I hope you get your dog and your health doesn't bother you too much! Please feel better!
